2:30 pm –  Implementing Telemed Tech

Medicare and other payers are beginning to pay for services provided through technology.  Telehealth, Telemedicine and other remote services can be a part of your practice today but the future will likely require integrated remote health services for a viable practice. Learn how to:

  1. Current opportunities for implementing remote health care into your practice.
  2. Explore the steps to take now to prepare you for the future implementation of remote health.
  3. Understand current billing and coding for Medicare and other payers for remote services.

3:40 pm – Using RVUs in Your Practice

wRVUs and tRVUs can be used for compensation plans, analysis of payer contracts, analyze costs and compare to benchmarks for other Urology groups independent of geographic and payer mix.   Examples of RVU application for compensation, payer contract analyses and benchmark analysis will be reviewed during this session. Learn how to:

  1. Define RVUs and how to appropriately apply these tools to your practice for various applications.
  2. Analyze RVUs in your practice to adapt to changing payment models.
  3. Develop models for contract analsysis.

4:50 pm – Adopting New Technology

Health care is constantly changing.  Building an appropriate business case for new procedures and technology for patient care is essential in todays, market.  Case analysis of new technology adoption will be used to demonstrate appropriate preparation from a business prospective. Learn how to:

  1. Identify patient population and demand to project potential markets.
  2. Apply costs and required allocation of assets for development of Business plans for a new procedure/device/drug.
  3. Review and present business plans to management.

Mark N. Painter is CEO of PRS Urology Service Corporation (PRSURO) an organization dedicated to providing Urologists with the simplified business solutions. He is also CEO of Relative Value Studies, Incorporated (RVSI) -- a nationally recognized health data firm and think tank established in 1983. He maintains a part time position as the Vice President of Coding and Reimbursement Information for Physician Reimbursement Systems, Inc. (PRS).

Mr. Painter is responsible for the design, testing and continued development of PRSURO’s unique product line. The primary product (ClaimCorrect) will use the PRS database to determine claim accuracy and provide feedback to the providers to allow submission of clean accurate claims. The data analyzed by the ClaimCorrect program will be appropriately protected for Patient Confidentiality and provided to member users for use in contract negotiation, practice management analysis and compliance. Further the ClaimCorrect program will use collective physician data to review payment information and identify incorrectly paid claims on a contract specific level.
RVSI is best known for the development of all data and editorial content of Relative Values for Physicians (RVP) published by St. Anthony Publishing, Inc. The dataset is used nationally by many private payer organizations and state agencies.

Since co-founding PRS in 1989, Mr. Painter has served as the primary coding resource for the PRS coders for Hotlines, Coding Manuals such as the SourceBook, the Internet based application codingtoday.com (including auacodingtoday.com) and seminars. PRS provides information and services to various specialty societies and their members under arrangement with the societies of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American Urological Association, American Academy of Neurologic Surgeons and American Academy of Otorhinolaryngology. Mr. Painter has presented numerous coding and reimbursement seminars in Urology including 3 years as one of the lead presenters with the AUA as part of the national coding seminars offered by the organization.

Mr. Painter's extensive knowledge of physician reimbursement issues has allowed him to assist insurance companies, physicians and their staff members, legal counsel, actuaries, Specialty Societies and consultants on a daily basis.

Mr. Painter received his B.A. from Grinnell College at Grinnell, Iowa.
